My attention this week has again been turned to the TPO system.

So many Local Authorities are administering TPOs which are simply not enforceable.  They continue to take applications for works that people make in ignorance; and happily perpetuate the myth that there is a document in force that requires people to make such applications. 

This layman’s understanding of the TPO system is partly what sustains the protection of trees as people assume a TPO covers any or all trees within a given place.
